(Removed) - Calendar of Drehmal

Note: This book is removed content, which does not appear in the current version of the map (1.20.1). It is still on this wiki because it provides some intriguing insight into the lore of the world for those interested, but should not necessarily be taken as canon.

This book is no longer on the map, but in previous versions, was found in the library of Okeke, and defines some terminology in Drehmal's calendar system. This is not a finalized version of this calendar system, however, and was removed due to some inconsistencies with other uses of these terms.

Transcription

The Realm of Drehmal, in its ever-fluctuating, turbulent history, has a fitting yearly cycle of moon phases and times of celebration.

Torahnic Cycles are measured in 30 hour periods. The Torahn is a massive, pufferfish-esque creature that rotates around the realm, illuminating the world in a brilliant light (The Torahn was discovered to be living by Ranai Vuhnos, a controversial Casain researcher, during the Age of Magic). It is unknown how the Torahn is able to output such immense energy, but it is believed to gather strength while it is "resting" beneath the realm. It shines for 15 hours, then falls behind the horizon for another 15.

A new month begins roughly every 5 weeks , which is 5 Torahnic Cycles. A new Lorahnlar is marked by the moon, the Lorahn, changing color.

Trivia

Taking this book to be true (in the original version), a full year would only be 225 days long on Drehmal, spread out over nine 25-day months. This is only about 61.6% of the number of days in the Gregorian calendar, meaning that an equivalent year in the Gregorian system would end on August 13.

If we convert the timeline of Drehmal to our calendar system, the entirety of post-Felling history has actually only lasted for about 1,740 years, rather than the 2,825 years in Drehmal's calendar system (This does not account for their days being longer, however).

2.2 Beta Transcription

The main transcription above is from the 2.1 version of this book. Another version, in the 2.2 Beta, changed the descriptions of the months, and reads as follows:

The Realm of Drehmal, in its ever-fluctuating, turbulent history, has a fitting yearly cycle of moon phases and times of celebration.

Torahnic Cycles are measured in 30 hour periods. The Torahn is a massive creature akin to a pufferfish that rotates around the realm, illuminating the world in a brilliant light (The Torahn was discovered to be living by Ranai Vuhnos, a controversial Casain researcher, during the Age of Magic). It is unknown how the Torahn is able to output such immense energy, but it is believed to gather strength while it is "resting" beneath the realm. It shines for 15 hours, then falls behind the horizon for another 15.

A new month is marked by the moon, the Lorahn, changing color. It does so sporadically, but on a predictable pattern. This means not all months are the same length of time.
